i was reading through past issues of my zine on here and there were many things that i said at 18 that i no longer agree with at (almost) 20. but by far THE MOST PRESSING ISSUE is that in the june 2022 issue of SAD GIRL RIOT, i said and i quote, "i know in my heart that high waisted jeans are superior, and i refuse to accept that low rise is back in style." i read this and i thought, I NEED TO UPDATE THE PEOPLE!
the fact is, high waisted jeans have always looked bad on me. i have a short torso and long legs, and high waisted jeans make me look like my entire body is legs. it is NOT A CUTE LOOK! so why was i so attached to high waisted jeans? because i grew up chubby, and i internalized the idea that if you don't have a flat stomach, low rise is not for you. i am here to tell you guys right now that THIS IS PROPAGANDA.
i have lost a significant amount of weight since high school, and it fucks with me that i only felt like i could try out a lot of different clothing styles since losing weight. because my overall proportions are basically the same, i'm just a few sizes smaller. i wish i had tried wearing low rise jeans a long time ago, because they make my hips look damn good! seriously, regardless of what you look like, if you want to accentuate your hips, wear low rise jeans.
i have noticed a recent 2000s revival (as has every other living soul on the planet), and with that seems to come a sentiment that "thin is back in." first of all, when did thin ever leave? i would really, really, really love to know. secondly, I NEED Y'ALL TO KNOW THAT THIS IS BULLSHIT. FAT GIRLS LOOK FUCKING HOT IN 2000S STYLE. PLEASE WEAR IT I SWEAR TO GOD I AM NOT LYING TO Y'ALL, LOW RISE JEANS WERE MADE FOR US BITCHES WITH BIG HIPS!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T BELIEVE THE SKINNY PROPAGANDA, THEYRE* JUST TRYING TO FUNNEL YOUR MONEY INTO THE POCKETS OF MALE PLASTIC SURGEONS AND CEOS.
